National PLHIV Forum 2018

Myanmar Positive Group (National PLHIV Network) organized National PLHIV Forum 2018 at Best Western Green Hill Hotel, Yangon, Myanmar on 2-3 December 2018. This was also an occasion to celebrate the 10th National PLHIV Forum of MPG.

MPG ForumMPG organized National PLHIV Forum every two-year, is a national event recognized by all key stakeholders working in HIV & AIDS Response in Myanmar. It aims to 1) collect concrete voices on best practices, major concerns, current issues and challenges faced among PLHIV community across Myanmar, 2) to advocate the policy makers to take strategic actions, 3) to inform about progress updates of actions taken on six statements of 2016 forum, 4) to update about Community Advocacy Process on HIV Laws and IP Laws, 5) to share knowledge sessions on UHC and latest updates in HIV & AIDS Response, and 6) to develop action plans on the recommendation and statements of 2018 for dissemination and advocacy.

The main theme of 2018 forum is “Ensuring Quality HIV Services Beyond 2020” as for exploring and collecting the voices of concerns from PLHIV in Myanmar on HIV services beyond 2020.

Total of 164 participants including the representatives from PLHIV Self-Help Groups across Myanmar, Key Population Networks, Government Officials, UN agencies, International and Local Non-government Organizations and Medias attended this two-days forum.

As the immediate output of this forum, 15 Key Statements related with all the current progress updates, challenges and concerns of PLHIV Community were brainstormed and developed by the participants. These statements will be used for advocating to local, regional and international stakeholders as the strong voices of the PLHIV community in Myanmar.
