World AIDS Day Ceremony at Nay Pyi Taw

WAD 2018Myanmar Positive Group (National PLHIV Network) with technical support of UNAIDS through “Enhancing the legal framework on HIV Law and Community Consultation Project” organized the remarkable ceremony of 30th World AIDS Day at Amyothar Hluttaw on 28 November 2018 at Nay Pyi Taw with an objective to support knowledge about HIV response and the role of Community networks in HIV response and updated and related information of HIV in Myanmar and globally including the theme of this year “Know Your Status”.

With the collaboration with the leaders of Community Network Consortium (CNC), National NGO Alliance on HIV (3N), Myanmar Positive Women Network (MPWN), Myanmar MSM Network (MMN), National Drug User Network in Myanmar (NDNM), Sex Workers in Myanmar Network (SWiM) and Myanmar Youth Stars Network (MYS) leaders, and leaders from Phoenix Association (LNGO) and Lotus CBO, the ceremony was successfully celebrated and attended by the key representatives from UNAIDS.

WAD 2018Parliamentarians of Pyihtaungsu Hluttaw, Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyothar Hluttaw about 400 participants attended to this event and learned the updated knowledge about HIV response and the role of Community networks in HIV response and updated situations of HIV. 

The Chairman of Amyothar Hluttaw, U Man Win Khaing Than, also attended this ceremony and met with leaders of community networks. He encouraged and gave recognitions on performance of community particularly on Key Populations for HIV responses in Myanmar. Community leaders advocated about needs and challenges in implementations of HIV activities to members of Parliaments during this event.
