Myanmar Positive Group (National PLHIV Network) was initially organized in 2005 with participated implementation as a volunteer by the (PLHIV) (9) persons from the (National AIDS Program – (NAP), (UN Agencies), (INGOs), (INGOs), (CBOs) under the supportive assistance from the (Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS) (GIPA), UNDP as the leading team and the (International HIV/AIDS Alliance).
It was called changing as the Myanmar Positive Group – MPG, National PLHIV Network in 2006. The main objectives of the MPG are implementing to have development to the (PLHIV Self-help Group – SHG), communicating among relying on one team and people living with HIV/AIDS each other, capacity building based on the policy of the (Greater Involvement of People Living with HIV/AIDS-GIPA).
Intending to have the outcome of a similar voice of the (PLHIV), not only communicating with the networks in Myanmar, APN + (Asia Pacific Network of People Living with HIV and AIDS) and Vis from this, had been able to implement communicating widely also with the GNP+(Global Network of People Living with HIV and ADIS).
While organizing initially, as the number of amounts knowing the infection of HIV in Myanmar, the infected persons were facing scolding, being dealt with discrimination, and not coping with the services concerning medical treatment and taking care, it was being organized to be able to solve facing with cooperation leading these challenges from MPG. Besides that, it is being implemented by conducting workshop seminars concerning technology and conducting meeting discussions including the people from the multi-region to have development of the knowledge.
Besides, it is being conducted recommending conversation to the matters required to be implemented in priority taking agreement thinking with surrounding the supporting matters for the benefit of the people living with HIV in Myanmar. The Myanmar Positive Group – MGP (National PLHIV Network) is an association organized with the representatives of the (Self Help Group-SHGs) of the State and Region in Myanmar. At the implementation concerning with the work, it is being implemented after the discussion and consultation with the committee members, advisors and employees from the network-based office to the works to be implemented. The network-based office for implementing the works is based in Yangon.
Leading by example, representing the voices (needs) of the people and through meaningful involvement, MPG will network and collaborate with all relevant agencies, organizations and stakeholders in all activities beneficial for the health of the people.
