International Sex Worker Rights Day

HIV/TB Agency, Information and Service Activity (AIS) organized the International Sex Worker Day in-person event with the purpose to support achieving objective awareness and learn more about International Sex Work Rights Day and to increase awareness of health and safety for women who work as sex workers and to increase access to necessary services. This event was held with more than participants including representatives of UNAIDS, USAID, and other stakeholders; Leaders of key populations; A total of 65 people attended the event, including 45 members of sex workers’ groups and 13 members of SWiM.
The objection to the event is as follows;
- To be aware and learn more about the International Sex Work Rights Day
- To increase awareness of health and safety for women who work as sex workers and to increase access to necessary services
So What: All representatives of UNAIDS and NAP provided support and encouraging words for SWiM and leaders of SWiM and members have shared their experiences and the challenges in their daily life and advocated to reduce stigma and discrimination toward Sex workers. The outputs of this event meeting are as below:
The outputs from the event
- Improved the motivation of Sex Workers in HIV response by attending the event.
- Gained knowledge of International Sex Worker day
- In order to enhance the accessibility of SWiM’s services to female sex workers and expand their reach to include health and other related services, certain measures need to be implemented.
- The female sex workers in attendance were able to engage in productive discussions surrounding the various challenges they face, the essential services they require, as well as their suggestions for improving their overall well-being.
