EOW report of International Overdose Awareness Day

HIV/TB Agency, Information and Service Activity (AIS) organized the International Overdose Awareness Day Semi-virtual event led by the National Drug Users Network Myanmar and Myanmar Positive Group with the collaboration of the Community Network Consortium(CNC) and stakeholders for achieving the objective of its event at Zealax Hotel. The total 140 participants ( In person- 95 , Virtual-45) included the representatives of USAID, UNAIDS, leaders of Key Population network and members of NDNM.

The objective of the event is as follows:

• To be aware of the History of International Overdose Awareness Day
• To understand the challenges of IDUs to access the services
• To advocate to stakeholders for reducing the stigma & discrimination to words IDU

So What: All the participants gained the new idea to provide friendly services based on the challenges of IDUs to access the services. The women who use drugs have gained the motivation for more participation in network activities. All the stakeholders especially harm reduction organizations are highly committed to collaborating with NDNM in the future. The Religious leaders are highlighted to reduce stigma & discrimination to ward IDUs by preaching and encouraging in the events.
