EOW report of International Candlelight Memorial Day

HIV/TB Agency, Information and Service Activity (AIS) organized the International Candlelight Memorial Day Event (virtual) with the purpose to support for achieving objective for zero discrimination to all people living with, at risk of and affected by HIV in all sectors especially in health, education and work place via online zoom platform. This event was held with more than 299 participants including representatives of UNAIDS, USAID, CPI and other stakeholders, leaders of Key Population and members of Self-Help Groups and Key Population networks from States and Regions across Myanmar.

The objective of the event is as follow:
• Not only celebrated the event but also noticed the activities of HIV in the community
• To take urgent interventions for removing the challenges and barriers by the effects of Stigma and discrimination
• To bring new hopes to new young generation

So What: In the agenda of the event, all representatives of USAID, and UNAIDS are delivered the opening remark and shared the history of the international candlelight memorial ceremony and as below agenda:

Prayer for People living with HIV who passed away from AIDS-related death
The religious leaders from Myanmar Interfaith Network on AIDS -MINA were led and encouraged the spiritual messages with their scripture before each prayer. All religious leaders showed their kindness with passionate prayer. The prayer session of the event was accomplished with excellent coordination with MINA.

Silent Praying with candle light
All the participants are praying one minute with candle light for PLHIV who those are silently passed away and who those are scarified their life in HIV response.
